A 19th century French bronze statuette depicting Bishop Bossuet by sculptor Emile Louis Picault (1833-1915). The base includes a brass plaque stamped with "Bishop Sossuet by Emile L. Picault," the plaque is attached with two screws. The wood base has slight cracking and small chips in the dark paint, commensurate with age. The bronze sculpture shows Bishop Bossuet in flowing full-length bishop's robes and standing in a three quarters turned position while pointing to a bible he holds in his right hand.
