Brass Sike's Hydrometer set in a wood box padded with red fabric. Set includes pendulum, a set of nine weights and a mercury glass measuring scale (similar to a thermometer) which is embossed "T.O.Black, London." Dove-tail joins on the box. A paper label shows a job ticket dated "1st August, 1944. Job No. 66-7" stating that the hydrometer # 41529 has was adjusted and agreed with "National Physical Laboratory Certified Standards". A faint stamp shows a partially legible Scottish street address and the words "Glasgow, C.Z." in faded red ink. Late 19th century, but clearly was still in use as late as 1944.
